FROM THE CHAPTER PRESIDENT:

21 June 2008

To all members and friends of our GREAT Chapter:

It's been awhile since I have written on this page.  Maybe it's because of our busy Chapter schedule, and maybe it's because the weather has finally turned nice and I am out riding on my Harley.........but what ever the reason was, it's time to get back to work!

Rolling Thunder XXI has now come and gone, and with it the hopes and prayers of many Veterans that our government will finally see that the American people know that we were lied to in the early 90's when the Kerry/McCain POW/MIA Investigative report came out.  That report said that the "official stance of the US Government was that there was no credible evidence that we left no American behind in Southeast Asia".......!!!!!!!!!!  HEY.......where is Col Shelton?  Where is Col Hrdlicka?......and where the hell is Dewey Allan Midgett????????  They know the answer, and we demand it!

I had the chance and the honor to go to the White House this year and press President Bush for action before he leaves office in December.  Along with the senior leadership of Rolling Thunder, Inc. we delivered letters asking the President to take action and sign off into law on three subjects relating to Veterans benefits, and POW/MIA matters.  It was a very positive meeting, and we hope he listened to our concerns.

The summer is here, and with it a busy schedule.  If you check the calendar, you will find a lot of events in the coming months that are not only important to the mission statement, but need your full support.  Please take the time out of your busy schedules to make the time to support the Chapter.  The members rely on each other for support, help, and friendship, and without you, we would be nothing.

With the month of July approaching, that means nominations for elections will commence.  As you begin to search for members to become your next officers, please take into consideration who will do the best job to lead the Chapter.  This is not an easy task, and one that should not be taken lightly in your thought process.  The elected officer should not be based on who is the "coolest" or who is the "most social/popular".......they should be elected because they will represent you at a higher level in the organization, they will be representing you to the public at events.  Who do you want to see standing in front of this Chapter??????

Finally, I want to wish everyone a happy and safe summer.  In our "off time" I hope that you will get as many miles in on your bike as you can.  There is a lot to do in the summer months, and a lot of riding to do.  Trips from the shore to the mountains, up and down the coast, or even cross country.....whatever you do, ride safely!

GOD BLESS OUR POW/MIA's.......GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS SERVING IN HARMS WAY......and I ASK THAT GOD BLESSES YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
