NC-5 Travels to Andersonville, GA for National POW/MIA Awareness Week
20-23 Sep 2007
NC-5 traveled the 543 miles south in the pouring rain to Andersonville, GA to take part in the SE Rolling Thunder, Inc. reunion of members. Organized by the FL and GA Chapters, this weekend saw over 400 members attend a weekend full of ceremonies, food, and FUN.
Andersonville is the home of the National POW/MIA Museum and the Civil War Prison known as Camp Sumter.
Over 60 ex-POW's were also in attendance, and the weekend was full of stories and experiences from these heroes. Just to sit and talk with them proved to be worth all the miles put in this weekend. HISTORY.........hundreds of years of history was shared by these Veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm.
We returned home the 543 miles northbound with a new understanding and commitment to out mission statement.
